I Release All That I No Longer Need

“Releasing” and “Letting Go” are terms that are tossed about often in personal growth circles, but perhaps you wonder how exactly do I do that?

Well I came across a great Facebook post this morning from author Lisa Michaels. It spoke to me, I acted on it and it felt great.

Here it is

Oct 17 • Leo Moon (Fire) • Libra Sun (Air). What needs to be released into the fire of transformation for you to expand into your next level of radiant leadership? Is there some aspect of yourself sabotaging the collective manifestation power of your entire inner creation team?

Check in with yourself about what needs to be released. Write down the messages you receive in your journal. And then dance to actively release that old energy internally. Here’s a good piece of music to do a release dance to http://youtu.be/bafvarg08lM.

Once you’ve done your releasing. Connect to the strength of your WILL. Fire teaches you about the power of your will applied to your actions. Determination, energy, and a fixed purpose help you move forward in alignment with your desires, and stay on a focused course.

When using Fire, you must do it in a balanced manner. Misaligned or overused will can prove harmful or keep you stuck in a situation you are ready to move past. Learning the right use of will and the right time to use it, and doing so in alignment with the Divine, provides a core Fire path teaching.

Ask yourself how you need to apply your will to your manifestations today. Where do you need to apply the fire of your will to take right aligned action to bring your highest priority creations into being?

Write what the guidance you receive about your applying your will in your journal then take action.1780700_851775824867184_2156868016390874177_n

Give thanks to your inner Fire and the warmth of the Sun.

Fire, you are a wonderful teacher.

You help me learn to walk in balance, honoring the sacred in the light and in the darkness, in the outer and inner realms.

Thank you of teaching me ways to live a dynamic, powerful, and passionate life from my radiant core.

I lovingly express my gratitude for your spark of life and for being the fuel for my growth.

Blessed Be.

Have an amazing fired-up day, Lisa

To encourage you do this yourself and to be as open as possible, here is my list. Perhaps some things will surprise you. Perhaps you think I must have gotten rid of these long ago. Those are the very thoughts I found myself thinking. Releasing energy that no longer serves us is a multi-layered process. I often find myself releasing, seemingly, the same thing because there are depths to it and at any given time we can only release what we are willing to.

Fear that I’m not good enough.
Belief that I need someone to save me.
Thoughts of lack and competition.
That I’m weak. That I want to hide out and not be seen.
Doubts that I’m powerful or capable.
That I’m broken, flawed, or a mess.
That I need to please everyone.
That I need everyone to like me.
What others think of me is more important than what I think of me.
That I need more classes.
That I need to do it all myself.
That I can only ask for what I want in my most desperate moments.
Fear of action. Fear of risk. Fear of stepping out.

Then I danced, sobbed, laughed and let it all go to this great track http://youtu.be/bafvarg08lM.

Most importantly I feel great!

Sometimes you need to kick your own ass

Life is awesome! But sometimes you need to kick your own ass.

I woke up this morning feeling a bit down, not wanting to get out bed. I even had some of my oldest, draining thoughts – “why bother?” “is any of this worth it?” A few years ago this was what I normally woke to, it is only because it is now so rare that it stuck out to me.

I made myself get up and felt a little better. I shared how I was feeling with my wife. I began my normal rituals of journaling and affirmations… but today I needed more.

I ran up and down my hallways proclaiming how much I love myself and life. I did this until my mood and energy matched what I was proclaiming. I thought of trying to capture it on video, but I would have needed a full film crew as I was literally racing through my house and screaming positive affirmations. My dog, Sadie, even joined in.

Then I was off to the gym for an hour of Combat class – which I adore. It is such a great release and keeps me energized all day. I got home feeling great but then a bit of… “now what?” crept in. I received notification of a new client and thought “Oh no…” I had to catch myself and say, “hold on you, what is that crap about?” No matter how many people I help, coach, teach and serve… I still sometimes get this “Oh no… I can’t help this person,” or “I’ve got no idea what to do with that person.” It is the fear of the unknown. Perhaps no matter how many times I face the unknown, that little bit of fear will always be there. As long as I don’t water that seed, I’m fine.

As the day unfolded I was communicating with clients, took part in my first Google Hangout interview, scheduled two clients for tomorrow, and suddenly I realized – without needing to give myself a jump-start or “acting as if” any longer — I am LOVING today. I’ve got exactly what I want happening.

It is only after working with great coaches and mentors that I’ve got the skills to be able to kick my own ass when needed. Today it was needed.Kick Your Own Ass

In order to be the best you can be for others, you must first be the best you can be for yourself. It may sound selfish, but it is actually selfless. If I’m gonna let myself mope around and focus on what isn’t going right in my life, how can I possibly be of any service to someone else?

Most days waking up eager to start my day is easy. It is easy because I know what to do on the days that it is hard.

I do love my life! But sometimes I still need to kick my own ass to get it started. And this is okay. That is better than okay, that is life.

Progress Not Perfection

Breakthroughs are rarely pretty. I’m living proof.

I shot this video early in the morning of October 1st and I posted it to Facebook without watching it. I do that when my emotions are strong so I don’t give myself a chance to change my mind. This video was public for almost 2 full days before I finally watched. Which is a good thing as I might have deleted it right away. The comments and feedback I received convinced me it was indeed a good one to release. I was quite surprised to see this video get shared around Facebook by a few friends, that’s what finally made me watch it.

I used to hit the wall of fear and not just bounce off of it, but run away from it. Sometimes trying to run away for good. I’d run so hard and so far from fear that I saw ending my life as my only option. Now, I can usually see fear not as a dangerous warning to be avoided, but as a welcoming alert telling me that some big personal growth and transformation is right around the corner, as long as I go through the fear.

This week I was getting caught up in the thought that since I’ve gone through the fear of something once it won’t show up again. But it does and it will continue to. We sometimes need to get over, under or through that wall of fear multiple times in a single day. Whenever I find myself having a “dark night of the soul” experience, as long as I allow myself to feel and express everything that is coming up for me (fears, doubts, anything) without judgement, I can move through it.

I first discovered this on vacation. I’ve been on some thrilling international adventures with Class 4 & 5 white water rafting, rappelling hundreds of feet and all sort of things I don’t do in a normal day. For some reason, because I’m on vacation I’m willing to take risks and be vulnerable. Years ago I decided to live my life like I was on vacation  – not in a relaxation or partying sense, but in a risk embracing, do what I fear, this may be my last day approach to life. Sometimes, that leads to my crying alone in hotel rooms. And I’m fine with that.

Each morning I pull an oracle card and post it to Facebook. The morning I shot this video, the card was:

Breaking Barriers.
Don’t let fear – or even reason – prevent you from overcoming barriers. Trust your instincts and push through. Remember to keep going and don’t stop. This is your time to use supreme effort to break out of your own shell and reach the light. The energy of “breaking through” isn’t always neat and tidy, so it’s okay to feel messy and chaotic for a while. Eventually, the situation will sort itself out and peace will reign.
“I am expanding beyond limitations into joy and freedom!”

Progress and success are rarely a pretty journey. It is okay to feel messy and chaotic for a while. In my experience, it has always been worth the few moments of discomfort to break though to the joy and freedom. That joy is always there. Sometimes its hiding just behind the fear.

Keep scaling those barriers! After all, most of the time we are the ones who put them there.

Be good to yourself,
